WHAT MAKES OUR ALGAE SPECIAL?

  • Climate-friendly

Algae require very little space and energy to grow. Drying at 42°C is particularly energy-efficient, and we also consciously keep our transport routes short and resource-conserving.

  • Transparent cultivation

We regularly visit our farms and small manufacturers – because personal interaction is at the heart of our marketplace. We want to share this commitment to transparency with you.

  • Regionally processed

Our warehouse is located in the heart of Germany – in Giessen. Our algae come directly from the farm and are packaged by us in environmentally friendly bags. Sustainable – from cultivation to your doorstep.

GOOD SPIRULINA TAKES TIME

The drying process makes the difference.

Unlike conventional methods using hot spray drying, Algen Markt's spirulina is dried slowly and gently in the air at temperatures below 42°C . This ensures that all nutrients are fully preserved .

Another advantage: This gives the spirulina a mild, crispy taste – completely without the usual strong fishy note.

From May to October, raw spirulina is harvested almost daily on the Hessian farm.

ALGAE FARMING IN THE HEART OF GERMANY

Microalgae like Chlorella have been experiencing a real hype for several years. Spirulina is now following suit.

Our blue spirulina loves sun and warmth – and thrives excellently in German greenhouses.

Ours is organically grown , gently dried and processed in raw food quality .

  • GERMAN SPIRULINA FARM

After many years of intensive research, numerous trials and successful scaling, it has been achieved: Spirulina from Germany – in artisanal quality .

The holistic concept of whole-food spirulina is becoming a reality:

Gently processed, locally grown and directly marketed – a naturally grown alternative , now also available from domestic production.

  • PILOT FARM IN NORMANDY

For over ten years, intensive research, testing, and development have been taking place in Normandy. The guiding principle: circular economy .

This is impressively evident at Eco-Domain du Bouquetot: The farm is completely integrated into its surroundings and features a permaculture garden with fruit trees, vegetable cultivation and sheep farming.

Visitors are very welcome – anyone who is nearby is welcome to visit the farm.

WHAT WAS THAT AGAIN ABOUT US AND SUSTAINABLE ALGAE?

Imagine a powerful guiding principle: whole-food nutrition according to the Giessen School. Add to that a student who is curious and looks beyond the obvious, and one of the oldest life forms on Earth – the spirulina algae.

Well mixed, matured for seven years – and the result is: a doctor of Spirulina , with its own regional production facility and a Europe-wide network of algae farms.

Seven years later, this evolved into the Algae Market : a hub for European algae products from sustainable and transparent cultivation. Refined with Ayurvedic-inspired spice blends , exceptional algae creations are produced here, combining enjoyment, health, and responsibility .

We have even more algae in our product range.

  • Chlorella algae – Green power

Our Chlorella vulgaris is cultivated in Germany under strict EU guidelines in modern glass tube systems and carefully monitored. It is a natural source of bioavailable vitamin B12.

  • Dulse algae - marine minerals

Dulse is an edible red seaweed from the Atlantic Ocean – also known as sea lettuce. It boasts a savory flavor reminiscent of seafood or even slightly of smoked bacon.
