Our project with the algae market
We were brought together by our shared desire to produce spirulina and algae according to the holistic nutritional concept of whole foods – that is, in a way that promotes health, is socially responsible, economically viable, and environmentally friendly. We have outlined our guidelines for this in the following quality charter. The collaboration between Algen Markt, AKAL FOOD , and Algenland allows us to implement this quality algae charter flexibly and decentrally. Both companies are headquartered in Giessen, Hesse.
Algenland owns a pilot farm in the Vogelsberg region, dedicated to the development and research of European organic spirulina. Our consulting firm specializes in integrating renewable energy with spirulina cultivation. We currently manage and develop five farms. Algenland is a network of experts from diverse fields. We provide information about the sustainable potential of spirulina as a complete food source through seminars and trade fairs, offer farm tours, and provide training for spirulina farmers.
Algen Markt distributes and promotes high-quality algae in general, and spirulina in particular, sourced raw from Germany and Europe. We develop whole-food, algae-based recipes. Our algae are cultivated using renewable energy. All our partner spirulina farms are supported by our consulting firm, Algenland. We also sell spirulina from developing countries directly. Based on principles of solidarity . We place particular emphasis on the social orientation of the farms. Only with good, motivated workers can sustainable, high-quality, and flavorful spirulina be cultivated on farms and offered for sale both locally and internationally.

We prioritize transparency and traceability in our products, from cultivation methods to our certifications. We see ourselves as a trusted partner for everyone involved in the spirulina value chain. Offering healthy, reliable raw spirulina is our business. Our high-quality products are the result of time-tested and gentle processes in the cultivation, harvesting, and drying of the spirulina. The selection of ingredients and the people who prepare them guarantee the wholesome, sustainable quality of our products.

One approach
Since 2012, we have been working on cultivating spirulina in Germany. In 2018, we were able to launch the first German raw food-quality spirulina on the market. From the very beginning, we have pursued the approach of "innovation through practical research" and open communication – with the goal of promoting the cultivation and consumption of spirulina among the general public.
