Spicy pak choi with spirulina flakes

Ingredients

For the pak choi

  • 2 medium-sized pak choi (washed and halved lengthwise)
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil (for frying)
  • 1 tbsp spirulina flakes (for serving)

For the sauce

  • 2 cloves of garlic (finely chopped or pressed)
  • 1 tbsp ginger (freshly squeezed)
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar
  • 2 tbsp Coco Aminos (or alternatively soy sauce)

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, thoroughly mix garlic, ginger, sesame oil, rice vinegar and Coco Aminos, then set aside.
  2. Heat sesame oil in a large frying pan. Place the halved pak choi cut-side down in the pan and fry over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes, until golden brown.
  3. Turn the pak choi over, pour the prepared sauce over it and fry for another 2-3 minutes until the pak choi wilts slightly and is glazed.
  4. Place the pak choi on a plate, sprinkle with spirulina flakes and garnish with sesame seeds or fresh herbs as desired.

Tip

Tastes great as a side dish to rice, udon noodles or tofu dishes.
